A Historical Curiosity!

Despite the similarity in names, there is no connection between us and the firm of solicitors in Ashbourne known as Eddowes Simm & Waldron.

Both firms were established a long time ago, but the names relate to different branches of the Eddowes and Waldron families!

Our History
Eddowes Waldron have been working in and around Derby since 1855 providing legal services and access to justice to a diverse range of clients.

In the more recent past,  G R Eddowes & Waldron had offices at 34 and then 20 Irongate. In the early 1970's this firm merged with the Derby branch of A J Cash & Sons at 47 Queen Street.

In the early 1980's we moved to our current building in St Peter's Churchyard and subsequently have taken additional space in the Old Courthouse next door.
The building 12-16 St Peter's Churchyard was constructed around 1900 and is three storeys high with arched stone architraves, stone quoins and dormers in the roof.

It was originally an annexe to the main Thurman & Malin department store in St Peter's Street (part of which is now McDonalds restaurant) and then became a government office, closing when Forrester House was opened.
